A MAN died after being hit by a train at Osterley Tube station on Tuesday morning.

British Transport Police were called to the station at 2.34am after receiving a call about a body on the westbound Piccadilly line.

Medics arrived on the scene shortly after but the man had died from his injuries.

A transport police spokeswoman said: "The body has injuries consistent with being hit by a train and the incident is currently being treated as unexplained."

Morning commuters' journeys were disrupted as police cordoned off the station.

A TfL spokeswoman said: "The Piccadilly line normally starts running at about 4.50am but because of this incident, it wasn't running until 6.35am, with suspended services between Northfields and Heathrow."
