A MAN pulled from the water in Crane Park this week had drowned, a post mortem examination revealed.

The man's body was found in the River Crane, beside Crane Park Island, on the borders of Hounslow and Richmond, on Monday (September 16).

The post mortem examination carried out on Wednesday gave the cause of death as drowning but, although police believe they know who the man is, they were awaiting formal identification as the Chronicle went to press this week.

Police were called to the scene shortly after 11am to reports of a body beside the island, near the park’s historic shot tower.

The man was recovered from the water by the Marine Policing Unit and pronounced dead on the spot.

The death is being investigated by Richmond Police, who are treating it as unexplained.
