A man escaped uninjured from a fire in Osterley, which damaged part of the loft conversion.

Fire crews were called to the house in Penwerris Avenue just before 8pm last night (Wednesday, April 16), with 21 firefighters and four engines sent to tackle the blaze. They brought the fire under control just after 10pm.

Firefighter John Richardson, who was at the scene, said: "The initial crews did a very good job of containing the fire and stopping it from spreading to downstairs or neighbouring properties. A man had left the building before we arrived and thankfully was uninjured."

The cause of the fire is under investigation, London Fire Brigade said.
