A man was found dead in police custody at Chelsea police station this morning, just hours after ambulance staff tried to treat him in Earl's Court.
Police were called to the Old Brompton Road at 8.27pm last night after a male in his 40s became abusive to ambulance staff. He was arrested and taken into custody.
By the time officers tried to wake him in the early hours of today he was dead.
The Metropolitan Police Service Directorate of Professional Standards are investigating and the Independent Police Compaints Commission are also at Chelsea police station assessing the incident.
