Police have confirmed that a man in his forties has died following an assault in Hillingdon.

Officers were called by London Ambulance Service to a residential address in Ryefield Avenue at 12.53pm today (Thursday 18 September) - not a chip shop as earlier suggested.

They found a man unconscious and receiving emergency treatment from paramedics. He died at the scene at just after 2pm. Police have not confirmed earlier reports of a stabbing.

It came just two days after two boys were stabbed and injured in Mulberry Parade, West Drayton, which has led to one arrest so far.

Next of kin in the Hillingdon murder have not yet been informed and formal identification awaits.

A man in his fifties has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been taken to a West London police station for questioning. Officers from the Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC) and Hillingdon borough are investigating.

They have appealed for anyone with information to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111. Local road closures are in place.
