A MAN has been killed and two others injured following a serious car accident by Gunnersbury Park in the early hours of this morning.

The accident, believed to be a collision between a car and a tree, happened at around 2am on Gunnersbury Avenue, between Popes Lane and Chiswick roundabout.

A London Ambulance spokeswoman said: "We were called just before 1.50am to Gunnersbury Avenue to reports of a road traffic accident between a car and a tree.

"We sent three ambulance crews, a duty officer and the air ambulance team in a car. Our staff treated three patients but despite extensive efforts of resuscitation, one patient sadly died at the scene. Two further patients were taken to the Royal London Hospital with minor injuries."

Police cordoned off the road and closures were lifted just after 10am this morning.

There are long queues on Hanger Lane, the A4 by Gilette Corner, the M4 and Chiswick High Street. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area.
