A MAN has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a stabbing on the Southall border.

Rajpal Jatana, of Wentworth Road, Southall, appeared at Uxbridge Crown Court on Monday (September 16). He was remanded in custody to appear at Kingston Crown Court on September 30.

The unemployed 20-year-old was arrested on Sunday in connection with the stabbing of a man found in Mr Jatana's home street, on the borders of Heston and Southall, last Thursday (September 12).

Three other men were arrested on the same day over the incident. Two of them were bailed and the other was released with no further action.

A man in his 20s was found stabbed in Wentworth Road, Southall, last Thursday, at 8.10pm.

Police said his condition was initially believed to be life-threatening and he remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Neighbours spoke of their horror after the incident. One man, who asked not to be named, said: "I was shocked when I heard what had happened. It's a quiet street and we've never had any problems before."
