A man is being held in custody after a counter terrorism raid in Greenford yesterday.

The 36-year-old was arrested by officers from the Met's Counter Terrorism Command on suspicion of encouragement of terrorism and suspicion of terrorist financing. He is being held in a south London police station. The arrested man has been bailed to a date in October 2014.

A second home in Ealing borough and a business in Fulham were also searched, and enquires are said to be continuing.

It follows raids of six homes in Ealing and Hounslow on Wednesday where a  30-year-old man and an 18-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit GBH.

On Thursday police launched an Operation Big Wing day of action to target thieves and robbers in the capital as well as setting up automatic number plate reader checkpoints to catch uninsured drivers.
