A man was arrested after an alleged assault on a bus in Uxbridge.

The suspect was handcuffed by Hillingdon Safer Transport officers outside the Gazette offices in Bakers Road at around 2pm this afternoon (Tuesday), and arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated assault.

It is believed that the man had tried to board a 607 bus with his bike, but was denied.

Bus driver Mohamed Ali, who witnessed the incident, said: "The driver wouldn't let him get on, and he started shouting at him.

"Then one of the passengers got involved, and there was a fight."

Three officers were at the scene to apprehend the suspect, who was taken to Uxbridge Police station, in nearby Warwick Place. Officers had to wait for another police vehicle to arrive, to pick up the bike.
