A man who plummeted 30 feet on to a busy dual carriageway in Hayes has miraculously escaped serious injury.

The man, believed to be in his late teens to early 20s, fell on to the southbound carriageway of the A312 Hayes bypass on Saturday just after 1pm.

The bypass runs under the Ossie Garvin roundabout, at the junction with Uxbridge Road, and this is where he fell from.

Traffic was in full flow, but he was not struck by a vehicle and an air ambulance was on the scene within 15 minutes.

The helicopter landed on the carriageway, and the injured man was taken to the Royal London Hospital.

Police today (Monday) confirmed that he did not suffer life-threatening or life-changing injuries.

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We sent a single responder in a car, an ambulance crew, a duty officer, and London's Air Ambulance.

"Our staff treated one patient, and he was flown to Royal London Hospital."

Police left the scene just before 2.30pm. There was major traffic in the surrounding area throughout the afternoon.

Raghavan Logan, who works in Uxbridge Road, told the Gazette: "I was cleaning my car when I saw the helicopter above my head.

"Then I saw lots of police and ambulances, and that's when I realised that something had happened."
