Maida Vale man charged with terror offence

A man from Maida Vale has been charged with a terror-related offence.

Abdul Raoof Al Shayab was arrested in April 30 last year and attended Southwark police station on April 14, where he was charged with possession of records of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism, contrary to Section 58(1)(b) of the Terrorism Act 2000.

The 51-year-old, from Morshead Road, W9, was remanded on bail to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on April 20.

Police are taking no further action against a 57-year-old man arrested on the same day.
