CARE home residents had a double dose of musical fun when they were visited by talented schoolgirls and enjoyed a summer garden party.

Pupils from The Ellen Wilkinson School for Girls performed a range of songs at Torkington House in Creswick Road, Acton on Monday last week.

From the classical such as Mendelssohn, to the more modern Schoenberg and contemporary artists Adele and Avril Lavigne, there was something to suit almost every taste.

Deputy manager Natalie St Lewis, said: "Our residents were very pleased they'd been given a chance to be visited by such talented young people and at the same time listen to their favourite classical music performed live."

The event was followed by a garden party on Friday, attended by the Mayor of Ealing, John Gallagher.

Residents, along with their friends and family, were treated to country music and ballads, and staff at the home put on a display of traditional Filipino dancing. A raffle and guess the weight of the cake competition helped raise money for day trips and other activities.

Ms St Lewis, added: "We've all been hard at work to make the day special for everyone. It really paid off as they all had a wonderful time." ..SUPL:
