A Harrow-born TV and radio star has been arrested on suspicion of historical sex offences in the office of his employer Magic FM.

Officers apprehended father of three and former Pop Idol judge Neil “Dr” Fox only moments after presenting his breakfast radio show yesterday morning, and was later quizzed at a central London police station over claims he assaulted two women.

Detectives searched addresses in Chelsea and Littlehampton, in West Sussex, as a part of an investigation.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: “Officers from Westminster have this morning, Tuesday, 30 September, arrested a 53-year-old man following allegations of historic sexual assault against two women."

Fox was held at the Golden Square offices of Magic FM shortly after coming off air yesterday.

A spokesperson for Bauer Media, owners of Magic FM, said: “Bauer Media can confirm that Neil Fox, presenter of the Magic Radio breakfast show, was today arrested by Westminster Police. He is currently being questioned about various allegations.

“We can make no further comment at this stage.”

Fox did not make his usual appearance on air this morning, but has vowed to clear his name.

The 53-year-old rose to fame as a radio DJ in 1990s on Capital FM. Since 2005, Fox has been the breakfast presenter on 105.4 Magic FM.
