She may be one of the richest stars in the Hollywood firmament, but a Mayfair pub owned by Madonna is under investigation for allegedly overcharging tourists for a pint.

Westminster Council trading standards launched the price probe after complaints customers at The Punchbowl, in Farm Street, said they were being charged 40p more for a drink than locals.

Sue Jones, the council's head of trading standards, said: "This may constitute an offence under unfair trading regulations which we would look into. Given the allegations made, the council will be seeking to speak to the licensee regarding this."

Madonna and hubby Guy Ritchie, paid a reported £2.5million for the 18th-century pub earlier this year.
