The general trend in the letters pages has been one of grumbling. Yes, there is a lot wrong at the moment, but for a change let us give credit for excel-lent service.

Firstly, to Mary Worrall and the Green Spaces Team [at Hillingdon Council] - Stuart, Damien and Dragana, who are backing the Friends of Eastcote House Gardens in their attempt to gain a grant for re-planting the Walled Garden in Eastcote House grounds.

They are not just giving lip service but real time, practical help.

Secondly, to Jean Palmer and the planning department, for arranging a seminar for residents groups, to explain the changes to the permitted development laws recently brought in by central Government.

These changes are available on a government planning portal, but totally inexplicable to the semi-initiated.

Jean Palmer and her staff put in many hours of work to make these laws understandable, and gave up their free time to present them to us.

To all concerned: thank you.
