A lorry jackknifed on the M4 today (Wednesday, January 7), causing rush hour tailbacks.

The HGV was travelling westbound when it span out of control and ended up facing oncoming traffic just past junction 4 at around 8.30am.

One lane was closed until around 8.50am, when the white Mercedes vehicle was removed.

Drivers faced tailbacks stretching along Stockley Road, in West Drayton, although a Highways Agency spokesman said the impact on traffic was 'quite negligible'.

A Metropolitan Police Service spokesman said no one was injured in the accident.
