NEVER work with children and animals, unless you’re coming to Olympia.

With the future of the Earls Court exhibition centres in the balance, Hammersmith and Fulham’s other grand halls at Olympia could become even more valuable to the borough.

Olympia, in Brook Green, West Kensington, opened in 1886 covering four acres. Today, there are two more buildings, Olympia National Hall and Olympia 2 and it is probably most famous for hosting the London International Horse Show and the BBC Good Food Show, as well as many trade exhibitions, but in the early days the programme was even more diverse.

Bertram Mills circus played there as well as the International Motor Exhibition in the early 1900s, have always been an important part of the calendar, and pictured here is a general view of the Aero Exhibition in 1929.

Other shows included Annual Camping and Outdoor Life and Kensington Championship Dog Show.
