Youngsters in west London were recognised for their Scout achievements at a special annual event held at Kensington Great Hall last month.

On March 28, 60 youngsters and leaders from the Scout County of Greater London Middlesex West received prestigious Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards at the event.

The achievement award winners, aged 11-25, received medallions along with their framed certificate and £200 cheques. The winners were nominated for the award by their peers and leaders for demonstrating their abilities.

Winners included 14-year-old Rishi Varodaria, 13-year-old Alex Thomas, 13-year-old Isabelle Farrington and 16-year-old Kirsty Hogge.

Since its introduction in 2005, the Jack Petchley Foundation has awarded £338,000 to the Scout County of Greater London Middlesex West.

Eight adults also won Leader Awards, for demonstrating an ability to motivate young people, also receiving a medal and framed certificate.

Founder of the award Jack Petchey CBE, aged 89, said: “I am passionate about our awards scheme which enables young people to be recognised, valued and rewarded for their achievements and positive contributions to society.”
