The Hive stadium will now host the home games of rugby league side London Broncos as well as Barnet FC.

The groundshare agreement for the facilities at the Camrose Avenue stadium in Edgware has been welcomed by the Barnet FC chairman Tony Kleanthous.

He said: "We are delighted to welcome the London Broncos into our family here at The Hive. "This deal represents a new beginning for the club and we hope to work with them in the community to grow the participation and support of Rugby League in North London."

The deal comes after Harrow Council served Barnet FC with an enforcement notice in September over their planning permissions, and confirmed last week that a public inquiry will take place in June after refusing amendments to the club's initial planning permissions in 2008 which included adjustments to the size of the West Stand and the floodlights at the ground, prompting concern from neighbours.

Mr Kleanthous however is delighted to welcome the club, and believes the world-class facilities at The Hive can only be an asset to Harrow.

He added: "The Hive is a £26million internationally recognised training complex incorporating a stadium, sports science unit, gym, conference centre and state of the art medical facility.

"We are proud to enhance the number of resident clubs here and host the Broncos alongside the Bees. I feel these are exciting times ahead for both clubs and I cannot wait to take my seat for our first Rugby League match next year."

London Bronocs are delighted with the move, which averts them from facing administration and secures their future.

Broncos chairman David Hughes said: "Our focus has always been to ensure we made the right decision going forward. Over the last 10 days, we have worked closely with the Rugby Football League and Barnet chairman, Tony Kleanthous, to avoid administration and secure the future of the Broncos.

"I believe this is the right decision, not only for the club, but also for the future of Rugby League in London.

"Many hours have been spent working to make sure the Broncos are positioned in an environment where they are best able to prepare and compete at the highest level."
