Locals reported how they saw a body bag being carried out of Pinner Station after someone was on the track.

The incident caused severe delays on the Metropolitan line and forced the station, in Station Approach, Pinner, to shut on Thursday (September 18).

The identity of the deceased has been released as Peter Seckel, 69, of Church Lane, Pinner.

Witness Julie West said: “I saw emergency response trucks, fire engines, police cars and an ambulance and thought there had been a train crash.

“Good to know they were all there so quickly. Sad to hear what had happened and thinking of the person’s family and the poor train driver.

“Not sure why a helicopter was hovering over head off and on until about 5pm.”

Luce Hughes tweeted: “Just walked up to pinner station to see a body bag being wheeled out..slightly distressing.”

Caron Kemp wrote on Twitter: “My thoughts are with the family of the person who took their life today at #Pinner Station, along with the train driver & all who saw it xx.”

Passengers endured severe delays on the Metropolitan line between Harrow on the Hill and the Amersham, Chesham, and Watford branches after trains were stopped in the aftermath of the incident.

An inquest starts at North London Coroner’s Court on February 3 next year.
