A woman from Lisson Grove has been left baffled about her own address after Westminster housing contractors changed her door number and road.

Frances Davies thought she lived in Wycombe House, until this was changed to Bernhardt Crescent following refurbishment work.

The house numbers also changed from 3-8, to 1-6, but this has not been changed on her front door.

She says Westminster Council's housing arm CityWest Homes, which runs the building, has not even sent her a letter to let her know her address had changed. She only realised her address had changed when a sign was put up inside the block in Grendon Street.

"I just want to know what address I live at," she said. "A sign needs to be put up outside the block, letting people know about the changes. The postman has trouble delivering letters, and visitors coming to see me.

"I've put up a pieces of paper with my house number on, but that keeps getting ripped down by kids."

When Ms Davies calls for cabs to pick her up, they also have problems finding where she lives.

"They'll call me saying there's a cab outside, but there's nobody there when I get there," she said. "So I have to get around to the other side of the building, which is quite hard for me. If you're going to change the address, at least put something saying that's what's happening. It's just a nightmare."

A CityWest Homes spokeswoman apologised for confusion that may have been caused.

She added: "This is as a result of the layout changes following regeneration work which took place two years ago.

"In order to formally change the address at this site we require planning permission and a council planning officer visited the site on Friday (20/3).

"Once these changes have been agreed he will inform emergency services of the change in address accordingly.

"We will write to our residents to confirm their new addresses shortly.

"We have ensured that the area has updated street signs which were agreed following joint walkabouts with residents and ward councillors and the feedback to date has been positive."
