A lifeboat crew rushed to the riverbank near Craven Cottage to rescue a man who fell 20 feet onto the Thames foreshore.
The RNLI station, based in Corney Reach Way, sped to the scene on Tuesday afternoon after receiving an emergency call-out from London Coastguard.
Aided by an air ambulance, the boat found the man just north of Fulham FC's Craven Cottage ground.
Helmsman Mark Turrell said: "The joint efforts of the air ambulance and lifeboat crews were essential in this incident as there is no access to the foreshore from the land side of this location."
Rescue workers were concerned the man may have sustained spinal injuries from such a long drop but he escaped with a broken arm and some cuts and bruises.
