A murderer has been caged for life after stabbing his Shepherd's Bush house mate more than 30 times in a frenzied attack.

Lucasz Staskel, 24, of Richmond Way, Shepherd's Bush, admitted murdering Pawel Grabowski (pictured) on the night of December 20 in the room they shared in a Shepherd's Bush squat.

Yesterday an Old Bailey Judge recommended the killer serve a minimum of 11 years.

On December 20, the two Polish men had been drinking and smoking cannabis together in a squat they shared when a fight broke out and Staskel stabbed his housemate.

He then dragged him downstairs and left the house, returning the next day with a neighbour, Kamil Paluch, 22, to find Mr Grabowski lying dead. Staskel then turned himself to police.

Assistant Detective Chief Inspector Tariq Sarwar who led the investigation said: "The attack left Mr Grabowski with in excess of 30 knife wounds in a sustained attack of extreme violence that is incomprehensible when considering the motive was a minor squabble.

"Whilst our thoughts are with the victim's family there can be no sentence to reflect their grief  and life long anguish. It is hoped that the sentences handed down today are a stark warning to those who are prepared to pick up a knife."

Paluch of Richmond Way, Shepherd's Bush, has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment for perverting the course of justice after helping Staskel after the attack and misleading police.
