A POPULAR and dedicated councillor is in hospital following a heart attack.

Liberal Democrat councillor for Brondesbury Park Barry Cheese suffered a heart attack while at home and was taken to hospital.

He has had major bypass surgery and is still recovering.

Councillor Paul Lorber, Leader of the Liberal Democrat group, said: “Barry is a tremendously active and dedicated councillor, so it was a shock when he was taken ill. He has received a tremendous amount of support and good wishes from colleagues and local residents. We all hope he will make a good recovery and our thoughts are with him and his family.”

Councillor Mark Cummins, who represents Brondesbury Park ward, said: “Barry is one of the most determined people I know. Residents are very welcome to contact me or Maurice O’Neill for assistance while Barry is unavailable.”

Mr Cheese was elected to the council in 2010.
