AS A resident of our lovely borough since 1935 - schooled here at Wood End Infants and Juniors from 1938 to 1944, through rather noisy times, finishing off at the now-extinct, wonderful Horsenden Secondary Modern for boys until December 1948, I, and my friends, were alarmed to read the item on St Benedict's School regarding the vandalism which appears to have been treated as an incident of youthful hijinks.

Our question is this: Would the outcome have been the same if it had been at one of our ordinary state schools?

Are we in danger of allowing the human rights lobby or the civil liberties group to allow these things to just go away?

I say to the people of Ealing: Beware of the soft discipline.

You will pay heavily in the future if you do.
