COUNCILLOR Keith Burrows describes in awful detail his command of affairs in the council chamber, claiming modestly that: "I am more qualified than anyone else on road safety issues" [Carping down to our success, Letter, August 6].

Three miles away in Yiewsley High Street, outside the Focus garden centre, I regularly have to cross the road to avoid a pile of rubble, a pool of deep water, a partly open manhole, some empty bottles - all crowned with a notice claiming that this is the scene of 'urgent repair works'.

It has been like this for the last four months or even longer.

Could Mr Burrows, or any other of his too numerous, too well paid, too verbose colleagues, just get it moved?
