I DIDN'T know whether to laugh or cry at the sheer hypocrisy of Damon Hunt of BAA's letter headed Jobs, air and local residents, [Letters, February 18].

BAA are failing to address the concerns and needs of the Heathrow residents.

I own a one bedroom flat in the area which would be demolished for the third runway at Heathrow.

I have been forced to sleep in my living room on an airbed for the last 19 months and, despite being in constant contact with BAA directors and managers about the urgency of my specific case, they have done absolutely nothing.

I have not been able to sell my property because of the blight in the area and, because of BAA's incompetent handling of this whole situation, have lost three prospective new homes.

BAA are more than aware of my personal situation and they know how important it is for me and my family to move, and yet they still play with people's lives.

We are not only talking about the wellbeing of myself and my partner, but also that of my 23-month-old daughter at a very critical time for her development.

In 2004 at Stansted, BAA bought the properties of those people that wanted and needed to leave within weeks of the Government approval, including those of residents who lived outside the expansion boundary - or in Heathrow's case, the people who would remain between the runways - and yet there is still no idea as to if or when BAA will make a decision.

The CEO of BAA, Colin Matthews, has now embarked on a media charm offensive to win the hearts and minds of those who oppose the expansion.

If this is the way they treat the people that need to move, how are they going to deal with the ones that don't?
