It appears that the dysfunctional nature of the Labour Party nationally appears to extend locally as well.
I cite for example the calls of Labour leader Cllr Jagdish Sharma for the administration to reduce council tax. Yet in another local publication, deputy leader Cllr Ruth Cadbury noted that the decision to freeze council tax was bad for the council and staff who decided to take voluntary redundancy as part of the improvement programme.
Mind you, no concern for all the residents who have been struggling to pay inflation-busting increases year after year under Labour.
This confusion between the leader and deputy leader echoes that of the Prime Minster and his Chancellor, and demonstrates the poor leadership coming from the top.
Locally, all the Labour party needs to do now is bring back Colin Ellar, perhaps in Hounslow Central, after all they brought back Peter Mandelson.
CLLR PETER THOMPSON Leader of the council.
