STAFF at the Nestle factory in Hayes put out a fire in one of the coffee roasting machines.

Ten fire crews and 72 firefighters were called to the factory, in North Hyde Gardens, on Saturday night.

The London Fire Brigade say the blaze originated in the filtration system at the factory, which produces Nescafe coffee, and a small amount of damage was caused.

A Nestle spokesperson said production was not impacted and added: "There was a small fire within one of our coffee bean roasters which [was] dealt with by employees on-site. The fire brigade were called as a precaution.

"There was no evacuation required."

Fire engines from Heston, Southall, Wembley, Northolt, Feltham and neighbouring stations attended.

They were called at 11.21pm, and departed at 2.19am on Sunday.
