There is only one week for people to petition their MP and make their voice heard in Parliament on HS2.

The HS2 Action Alliance (HS2AA) has developed materials to make the process as straight forward and quick as possible for anyone wishing to make their views known; whether it be people who face their property being blighted, are worried by a proposed tunnel or are opposed to spending £50billion on the project.

There is just one week remaining for home owners and members of the public to submit a petition detailing their concerns and suggesting solutions to a committee of MPs that are reviewing the Hybrid Bill.

The Hybrid Bill will authorise construction of Phase 1 of HS2, from London to Birmingham.

The HS2AA website has a quick petition as well as fact sheets giving you all the information petitioners need. There is also a specific petition for communities close to an HS2 tunnel, petitions for schools and petitions for community organisations like sports clubs and churches.

Richard Houghton, spokesman for HS2AA, said: “HS2 has been pushed through with almost no detailed scrutiny. The petitioning process is the final and only opportunity for those who will be hit hardest by the plans to push Parliament to provide better mitigation. If you want your voice to be heard please visit our website and make sure you get your petition in by 2pm next Thursday.”

On Friday last week Ickenham Residents' Association handed its petitions to MP Nick Hurd. Friday was the final day that businesses, including residents' groups, were allowed to hand it in.

You can access all the information and materials you need to lodge a petition on the HS2AA website at www.hs2aa.org/petition.
