A Hounslow landlord has been slapped with a £4,000 fine for raking in rent from multiple tenants without telling the council.
Sithy Moushumi Mohideen was prosecuted by the London Borough of Hounslow following a series of complaints and an investigation into the property in Hounslow Gardens, in Hounslow.
Brentford Magistrates also ordered him to pay a £500 fine for providing false information to the council, and court costs of £600.
Cllr Mark Bowen, deputy leader of Hounslow Council and lead member for strategic housing, said: "We are determined to ensure anyone renting accommodation in this borough can be assured their landlord is fit and proper, and providing a decent standard of accommodation to them.
"Having a HMO licence is a legal requirement, and we will come down hard on those who don’t.
"With the vast majority of landlords operating in this borough we have good relationships and they cooperate with us. This prosecution will send out a clear message. Work with us, or face the consequences."
