With the deadline fast approaching, the Hilingdon Labour Party has picked its candidate to fight the upcoming Charville by-election.

John Oswell is an experienced former Labour member of Hillingdon Council, who represented the Pinkwell ward in Hayes for many years.

He stepped down in 2010, returning to the fray for the May local elections this year when he came sixth in Yiewsley ward.

After his selection at a party meeting on Wednesday, October 29, group leader Councillor Mo Khursheed, said: “It is great to see John Oswell selected as our candidate for this by-election.

“He is extremely hard-working and would make an excellent community councillor for Charville ward.

“I look forward to campaigning with John and hopefully welcoming him back to the council on November 28.”

Nominations must be received by 4pm today (Friday, October 31).
