LIKE many I am dismayed at the decision to close the Post Offices in Harrow.

I am particularly disappointed in the Government ignoring the consultation and the petition which I and many others signed on the Downing Street web site regarding Harrow on the Hill.

This Post Office is a unique case I feel, due to its abolition requiring the elderly to come off the Hill to use an alternative, and also the impact it will have on boarding Harrow School boys who will now also have to come off the Hill.

Of course, the disappointment is compounded by the complete lack of any defence offered by Harrow's two Labour MPs who voted for the Government's closure programme last month.

Even if they personally disagree, they nevertheless have a duty to represent the views of their constituents. They failed entirely in this regard. No doubt people will remember this come the General Election.
