A woman attacked in her home in Southall has died.

Shireen Khan, 41, of Hillary Road, died at Ealing Hospital last Friday after spending nearly a week in a coma.

Neighbours called the police when they heard a fight at about 9pm on October 4.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said a post-mortem examination took place in Uxbridge on Monday.

He said: "The post-mortem revealed that Mrs Khan died of injuries brought on by manual strangulation."

Mrs Khan worked at Subway in Southall High Street. Her colleagues were unable to comment on her death.

* A 47-year-old man appeared at Acton Magistrates' Court on October 6 and was remanded in custody after being charged with attempted murder.

He is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on November 3 for plea and case management.
