The owners of a kebab van beside Henlys Roundabout in Hounslow are continuing to defy orders to leave the site - more than two months after being given their marching orders.

Ahmad Al-Amin and his three brothers were told to move on by Transport for London (TfL) in August after losing a court battle over the ownership of the grass verge opposite McDonald's.

The family have been trading from the site, at the junction of Bath Road and Great South West Road for more than 25 years and news of their eviction sparked an impassioned response from loyal customers.

Hundreds of people signed petitions online and at the van but their support was not enough to provoke a change of heart from TfL, which accused the family of trespassing on its land.

However, Mr Al-Amin today said he would continue trading by the roundabout until he is forced to move.

He told getwestlondon he had written to TfL commissioner Peter Hendy seeking a compromise but had yet to receive a response two weeks later.

"Our customers keep asking when we're moving but we're waiting for someone to kick us out," he added.

"There's no other suitable site in the vicinity and if we do eventually have to move it won't be to somewhere nearby."

TfL has not yet responded to getwestlondon's enquiry.
