PUPILS at Kate Middleton's mother's old high school celebrated their royal link with an indoor street party.

Featherstone High School, in Montague Waye, Southall, was attended by Kate's mum Carole Middleton (nee Goldsmith) between 1966 and 1968.

The school hosted the party last Thursday (28) with competitions to guess Kate's dress, cake decorating and pin the tail on the corgi.

Headteacher Gerry Wadwa said: "Our students are very proud of our royal connection. Many also took part in Friday's celebrations and no doubt showed off about their link to Kate."

Kate's grandfather, Charlie Goldsmith, was brought up in Clarence Street, Southall, and moved to Dudley Road when he married Dorothy Harrison.

"Kate's mum, Carole Goldsmith, was born at Perivale Maternity Hospital on January 31 1955 and moved with the family to Kingsbridge Road, Norwood Green, in 1965 where they lived for 25 years.

And on Friday (29), more than 300 balloons and 280 metres of bunting lined another street party, in Dorset Road, Ealing. There were several barbecues and a table football competition while a live band of mostly old Twyford High School students entertained the crowds.

Resident Jane Lowrig said: "It was brilliant, much better than expected. The party had a very good community spirit. It was a real group effort."
