TWO headteachers are celebrating after their schools were rated highly in Ofsted reports.

Millbank Primary School in Pimlico, was described as 'outstanding' and Christ Church Bentinck CofE Primary, in Lisson Grove, was rated a 'good' school with many 'outstanding' features,

Alyson Russen, Millbank's headteacher for 15 years, said: "We were really delighted. Millbank is such a rewarding place to teach.

"We've got a real mix of pupils - some have only recently arrived in the country, and others have lived here all their lives. The mix makes it a very challenging and very exciting place to work."

The Ofsted report particularly praised Ms Russen, stating: "She is relentless in her drive to accelerate progress and raise standards further.

"She is very well supported by a team of teaching and non-teaching staff who have created a vibrant, colourful and interesting environment which is conducive to learning and in which pupils excel."

Sandra Tyrrell, who has been headteacher at Christ Church Bentinck for 12 months after 11 years as deputy head, was also celebrating her pupils' achievements.

She said: "I'm so proud of everyone at the school,from staff to pupils.

"This is a very multi-cultural school, with children from a variety of different backgrounds.

"Pupils and staff have great respect for each other."
