A takeaway restaurant that allowed staff to dump bins bags containing left over food, drink cartons, cans and litter on the street has been prosecuted.

The owners of Jamaica Jerk Chicken, in Craven Park Road, Harlesden, admitted fly-tipping on April 8 at Willesden Magistrates’ Court and were ordered to pay £1,000 costs, a £20 victim surcharge and received a 12-month conditional discharge.

In June 2013 more than 10 black bags filled with fast food waste, packaging, glass, cardboard, empty drink cartons and cans and litter were dumped opposite the restaurant.

Councillor Roxanne Mashari (Labour), Brent Council’s lead member for environment and neighbourhoods, said: “Once again this prosecution is a warning to other businesses and traders that they cannot fly-tip rubbish on our streets and that they are responsible for their employees' behaviour.

“Brent Council will do all it can to investigate and prosecute offenders who fly-tip and we will demand the maximum penalties from the courts.

“We will have no hesitation in naming and shaming offenders as a deterrent to others.”

Yah Suh Nice Ltd, in Malvern Road, Kilburn, was fined £1,000, and handed a £100 victim surcharge of £100 and costs of £1,067.90 for failing to produce waste transfer notes after the case was proved in absence.

Nazir Ahmed, the owner of Abdullah Halal Meat in Watford Road, Wembley, admitted failing to produce waste transfer notes, and must pay a £500 fine , a £50 victim surcharge and £1,067.90 costs.
