A 31-year-old man has been jailed for three months for assaulting a police officer and carrying a weapon.

Patrick Brosnan was imprisoned by Harrow Magistrates' Court on Thursday last week after he changed his plea to admit attacking PC McPhail in Kenton last month.

He pleaded guilty to possessing a craft knife with a 3in extendable blade on the same evening.

On September 17, a vehicle in which Brosnan was travelling was pulled over in Kenton Lane at 2am after reports of the theft of 20 cans of lager and bottles of spirits from the petrol station at Belmont Circle, Belmont.

When officers questioned Brosnan at the side of the road one of them was assaulted.

Unemployed Brosnan, of Conway House, Quex Road, Kilburn, was cleared of another three charges of assaulting two of PC McPhail's colleagues and a public order offence.
