IN RESPONSE to your article 'Hospital parking shame' (Chronicle, July 31) I would like to say I can understand why they need to charge such scandalous parking fees at West Mid.
They have wasted so much money on a verybadly designed new building that doesn't even have air conditioning in the main wards, making life extremely uncomfortable for both patients and staff through the current heatwave, not to mention visitors.
In fact, the trust has made a grave error. If it had applied the same charge to time spent waiting on trolleys in A&E, it would now be raking in billions, instead of millions, and the new building would be bought and paid for.
Yes, before you ask, I do have a recent and horrendous experience of this.
I was born in this hospital 72 years ago and have hated the place ever since. I try to avoid being taken or sent there at any price.
I am registered disabled and I can rarely park in a marked bay, even if I could afford to.
