Whizz kids at Ashton House School in Isleworth have sum-thing to shout about after reaching the finals of a national maths competition.

A team of four top number crunchers from the private primary school in Eversley Crescent is due to battle it out in the finals of the National Young Mathematicians' Award next Tuesday (December 9).

It is the second year running that pupils from Ashton House have reached this stage of the contest, sponsored by Cambridge University, which will host the final. Last year's time just missed out on the top prize in the competition, run by Explore Learning.

The school's maths coordinator Vivienne Frampton said: "We have always prided ourselves on both the ability and attitude of our pupils who strive to use their skills to problem solve.

"To have gained such recognition is both deserved and rewarding for the dedicated staff and pupils of Ashton House."
