A woman has been detained indefinitely under the Mental Health Act after attempting to murder her boyfriend in his Isleworth home.

Anne Gruenberg took a large kitchen knife and crept up on her sleeping partner after he returned from a shopping trip on April 15, 2008.

She started to push the blade into her boyfriend's chest before he woke up and managed to grab the knife, cutting his hand in the process.

Police were called to the Percy Road home and Gruenberg was arrested.

She fully admitted under police questioning that she was trying to stab her partner to death.

Gruenberg appeared at the Old Bailey on December 19 where she pleaded guilty to attempted murder. She will remain at the secure hospital where she is being held, until a mental health review panel decides she is fit to leave.
