THE world’s ‘worst Islamophobes’ will be presented with awards as part of a comedy evening, which have been previously won by Tony Blair.

The Islamic Human Rights Commission is hosting a fund raising awards evening on Friday February 21 in Wembley and will be giving out a dubious honour.

People can nominate the ‘worst Islamophobes’ from across the world and previous winners have been Tony Blair, Condoleeza Rice and George W Bush, the former US president who won twice.

Prizes will also be given to members of the public with the best reason for their nomination in the Islamophobia Awards 2014.

The event started in 2003 to raise money for the commission and gained popularity each year until 2006.

It is now back by popular demand and will be held at the Holiday Inn, Empire Way, Wembley.

IHRC’s Arzu Merali said: “In 2003 there was an appetite to have it, but now the situation has deteriorated again and I think something needs to be done. I think there is something quite liberating about laughing at things. People have been asking about it and it is definitely back by popular demand.”

Short-listed ‘Islamophobes’ in each category, Britain, Australasia and Asia, Europe and Central Asia, Middle East and the Americas as well as Overall, will be chosen on the night.

In addition to handing out the tongue in cheek award genuine awards will be given to people who have worked tirelessly for social justice.

Anyone from across the world can be nominated as an ‘Islamophobe’, be they politicians, organisations, individuals, authors or journalists.
