The intu Uxbridge shopping centre will host a string of activities to celebrate the 15th annual National Storytelling Week next week.

From tomorrow (Saturday, January 31) to Saturday, February 8, adults and children will be able to help themselves to a free book each at the High Street shopping centre. An adult bookcase will be available in the lounge area and a children's bookcase will be located in the play area.

And tomorrow, professional storyteller Rosie Hudson, who supported the centre's Get into Reading campaign last year, will hold interactive sessions on the lower-ground floor, near to Next, at 11.30am, 2.30pm and 4pm.

Waterstones will then host storytelling and other activities at 10.30am on Wednesday, February 4 and at 11.30am and 3pm on Saturday, February 7.

Finally, on Sunday, February 8 the shopping centre will share all of its remaining books with the Michael Sobell Hospice, in Rickmansworth Road, Northwood.

Marketing manager Craig Higgins said: “Storytelling is an essential part of growing up, and even for an adult reading a good book is always a real joy, to get lost in a captivating story line.

“We are proud to support the annual campaign that fuels the imagination of all ages.”

The centre will also be offering an exclusive 'deal of the day' and recommended reads via the intuUxbridge Facebook page and its Twitter account, @intuUxbridge.
