A branch of the UK subsidiary of India's second largest bank has come to Harrow in the hope of capturing the business of customers worried about domestic lenders.
ICICI Bank UK opened its tenth British branch in College Road last Friday to attract new savers after British lenders like Northern Rock collapsed and Icelandic financial institutions offering high interest returns went bust.
The company offers current accounts, online savings accounts, online share trading, and money transfers to India, and staff said there had been curious passers-by popping in to enquire about the services.
The branch is open between Monday and Saturday from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
Another of ICICI Bank UK's outlets is in Ealing Road, Wembley.
It is in the same area in which the firm's customer services centre is located.
