An Indian community group celebrated the 67th anniversary of independence for their country of origin.

The Indian Association of Harrow , founded in 1967, offers a range of activities, outings and meet-ups for the Indian community living within the borough.

Members were joined on Tuesday by the leader of Harrow Council David Perry (Labour) to mark when, on August 15, 1947, India attained independence from the British Empire.

President of the group Saneh Sharma said: “Our new Community Seniors Club came together for the independence celebration, and we had lovely songs and were pleased to welcome members from our community and elsewhere.”
