I am not surprised Feltham has a rat problem. Our rubbish collection on this estate is on Fridays, but on Friday, February 6, the collectors failed to turn up. It was probably due to the weather, which I understand.
On Saturday morning, at 8.30am, I was upstairs and heard the dustcart. Looking out of the window I saw that either foxes or yobbos had split several of the black bags and rubbish was strewn in the road and pavement nearby.
The dustmen put the bags into the dustcart but left the spilt rubbish where it was. I called out of the window and asked if they were going to clean it up and was told, in no uncertain terms, "I didn't make this mess". They then walked off.
But whose responsibility is it? Us residents did not make the mess either.
Later, I went across the road to clear it up but a neighbour had beaten me to it. If it had been left, it would have been blown all down the road.
Does no one take pride or responsibility in their jobs any more?
Incidentally, if we put our rubbish out on the wrong day councils have a right to fine us. Does anyone think I should fine the council for not collecting my rubbish on the right day?
