A community survey has been launched to ask people what ideas they have to improve their area.

The East Acton Partnership Project, driven by labour councillor for east Acton and cabinet member for adults, health and wellbeing Hitesh Tailor and his fellow ward councillors, is designed to improve east Acton, the biggest ward in the borough.

It asks for big and little ideas, both long and short term, to better the quality of life for residents.

Mr Tailor said: “It’s about getting agencies together, about how can we improve our local environment, how to get young people into jobs and how we can work together to reduce crime and improve community safety- there’s a whole lot of things going on.

“We are in a consultation exercise with residents and have an online survey going at the moment. We are trying to get people to give us some ideas which we can develop by November. People might want more community events for example.”

Themes for developments include children and young people, community safety, housing, transport and environment and health, but essentially the public decides what things they want to focus on.

Both resident groups and individuals’ opinions are valued and more than 500 responses have been collected so far.

Mr Tailor, along with other east Acton ward councillors and council officers, will be raising awareness of the project and handing out surveys at the Westcott Park community garden celebration in Perry Avenue, Acton, on Sunday (September 21).
