Swing band Jack Pack sailed into the final of Britain's Got Talent in June and even got a seal of approval from Simon Cowell on the night.

But coming fourth in the TV talent show - another of Cowell's enterprises - wasn't the end of the road for the band, including Ickenham's Andrew Bourn.

A former pupil at Vyners School in Warren Road, the 33-year-old said he is overjoyed after being signed by Syco Records, founded by Mr Cowell in 2002, on Friday (September 5).

"We are so excited about the next chapter," he said.

"A lot of the biggest names in the music industry are signed up to Syco and to be a part of that and have the support of Simon Cowell is quite surreal.

"It's all been a dream. Britain's Got Talent was the best time, it was such a great experience and since then we've been working hard, performing as much as we can and now to start working on an album is so exciting.

"We are all very new to it but can't wait to get started."

Andrew, Alfie and Sean

Andrew performed in BGT alongside 25-year-old Alfie Palmer from Essex, Sean Ryder Wolf, 33, from Surrey and 29-year-old Adam Chandler from Kent, pitching themselves as a modern day Rat Pack.

Adam has since left the band and new member Martin McCafferty makes up the four-piece.

Simon Cowell has himself said he is looking forward to working with the band and has always wanted to work on a swing record.

Andrew hopes an album will be ready at some point next year, but hasn't yet had a chance to speak to Mr Cowell himself since being signed.

"He's very busy at the minute with X Factor but we are just over the moon he believed in us," he said.
