An 'outstanding' school is going from strength to strength after delighting an OFSTED inspection team and being recognised as one of the top 250 primary schools in the country.

Heathland School in Eastcote Lane, South Harrow, was inspected last month by the education watchdog, which judged it to be 'outstanding' in every area of performance.

Executive headteacher Chris Spruce said: "I am delighted that all the hard work of our passionate staff team and governors over several years has been recognised.

"I am very grateful for the support of parents and I am immensely proud of all our children."

Inspectors noted that pupils achieve ‘exceptionally well’, behave ‘extremely well’ and ‘show a real enthusiasm for learning’ during their day to day studies.

Lead inspector for the Ofsted inspection Graham Lee said the school was ‘a very happy place where pupils of different backgrounds enjoy being together’.

Harrow Council helped Heathland School form a federation in which they share expertise and a board of governors with Whitefriars Community School in Whitefriars Avenue, Wealdstone, which is soon to be expanded into a school catering from students age three to 19.

The glowing OFSTED report follows on from letters received earlier this year from Liberal Democrat Minister for Schools David Laws MP, who congratulated both Heathland and Whitefriars Schools for being in the top 250 primary schools nationally out of the 17,000 primary schools in England.

Abba Sharma, a parent of two pupils who attend the school, said: "We are delighted with the progress our children have made, this is an amazing school."

Praised for his ‘visionary leadership’, Mr Spruce added: "Now we aim to make both our schools even better.

"We are very excited about the opportunity to offer an outstanding high school too, as part of our academy trust."
